Iran to 'reverse engineer' US drone

Iran claimed that it had begun exploiting a US drone equipped with the latest radar evading technology on Monday as officials warned that the downed machine could be shared with America's rivals.

Parviz Sorouri, an MP on parliament's foreign policy committee, said that Iranian experts were in the final stages of recovering the data from the surveillance drone, which was captured on Iranian territory last week.
Tehran has paraded the loss of the drone as a blow to the US and claimed it plans to reproduce the technology. It said its security forces had shot the drone down using previously secret air defence systems.
The drone, which is made from the latest 'stealth' technology, has been presented as a valuable windfall for its defence scientists.
"Our next action will be to reverse-engineer the aircraft," Mr Sorouri said. "In the near future, we will be able to mass produce it. Iranian engineers will soon build an aircraft superior to the American (drone) using reverse engineering."
Other Iranian officials have hinted that it could allow American rivals such as China the opportunity to acquire the technology. American officials used diplomatic pressure to recover similar technology on helicopter that crashed in Pakistan during the raid to kill Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader.
Washington has acknowledged the loss of the drone but said that it crashed after it lost contact with its controllers while operating over Afghanistan.
The RQ-170 Sentinel drone is one of the most advanced used by the US military and is equipped with technology also used on the US Airforce fleet of advanced fighter jets, the F-22 and F-35.
While some US experts have cast doubt on the authenticity of a model of the drone shown on US television, others have said its electronics would be a valuable prize for rival states.
Peter Singer, of the Brookings Institution think tank, told a US newspaper that the drone would make a technological leap easier. He said: "Bottom line, it's never easy to reverse-engineer anything, let alone something like a radar, but having a working or even damaged system in hand to study up-close makes it a heck of a lot easier to both defend against it in the future or build your own derivative."

Electro Chromatic Auto Dimming Mirror | Opto Electronic Sensor Uses In Glare Free Rear View Mirror And Side View Mirror | Smart Glass With SPD Technology

Electro-chromatic mirrors system:
01-electrochromatic rearview mirrors-auto dimming mirrors
Electro chromatic mirrors / Auto dimming mirrors use a combination of opto electronic sensors and complex electronics (sensors, circuit boards, micro-controllers, etc.) that constantly monitor ambient light and the intensity of light shining directly on the mirror. As soon as sensors detect glare, the electro chromatic surface of the mirror becomes darker to protect driver’s eyes and their concentration.

01-electrochromatic exterior rear view mirrors-auto dimming side view mirrors
The electro chromatic technology usually is applied to the inside rearview mirror / Side view mirror, where it basically saves you the trouble of flipping the mirror manually if blinded by the light which increases driving safety.
Working operation of Electro chromatic mirrors:
This auto dimming rearview mirror is installed on higher end vehicles. It consists of two lenses that sandwich an electro chromic (electronic color changing) gel. The inside sides of the lenses are coated with a transparent conductive layer coating and the deepest lens has a reflective coating.
01-electrochromatic rearview glare free mirrors-automatically darken by opto electronic sensor
This gel, when charged with electricity darkens, then clear once the glare is no longer detected. The mirror uses a forward sensor which measures the outside ambient light, and a rearward sensor to look for glare. When dark enough, it sends current to the electrostatic gel, darkening it a rate which is related to the level of ambient darkness and rearward glare. When the outside ambient light increases, the current decreases, until the gel is clear again at daylight light levels.
